USE VIDEOS & AUDIO EXCERPTS TO ENTICE !
I recently published a new AUDIOBOOK, The New World: Blue Moon Generation. When I began this journey, I hadn't really thought beyond providing another format to be enjoyed by prospective readers and listeners.
Thrilled to absorb the action scenes of my science fiction adventure through the energetic voice of the wonderful narrator, I pondered. If I'm so excited by this method of presenting the story, how can I package this additional format to entice prospective fans?
The wheels inside my cranium whirred and out shot the answer: Attractive videos that tout the book series and the audiobook through audio excerpts of the more gripping scenes within the tale. Much like movies are marketed with thrilling trailers, the right kind of video and attractive set of excerpts should significantly increase interest and sales.
Off I went, learning how to use Windows Movie Maker to mix intriguing music with a "Welcome" and an exciting audio excerpt along with pictures of the different covers, the author, and the narrator. Voila! In less than a day, I was the new movie producer on my block — ha, ha.
All-in-all that week, I created two videos and worked with the narrator to capture the best audio excerpts for my website. With the aid of emails, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, word spread rapidly. In one day, I witnessed activity on my website like I had never seen before, particularly for the page with the video and most audio excerpts! In the days that followed, sales picked up — not only of the audiobook but also of my paperbacks and kindle ebooks!
Mmm, I'm onto something here!
Lo and behold, what started out simply as a plan to provide a different medium to share my tale with fans, expanded to a much more effective and attractive means of spreading the word across the globe.
I highly suggest that independent authors consider working videos and audios into the mix of marketing tools to help spur greater interest and sales.
